Heads must roll

If the seminary visitations are going to have any effect at all, heads will need to roll. I hereby nominate Father Charles Bouchard, President of the Aquinas Institute in St. Louis, as the first "casualty." He needs to go. And if he does not, the Vatican seminary inspections are a fraud and we can forget about a true reform of the Church in America.

The WOMEN FOR FAITH AND FAMILY WEBSITE has this to say about the Dominican priest ...

Father Bouchard publicly defends "gay" priests and seminarians. In a May 20, 2002 Newsweek essay, "Gays and the Seminary", he reacted to Bishop Wilton Gregory's comment that "there does exist a homosexual atmosphere or dynamic [in seminaries] that makes heterosexual men think twice. Newsweek reported Bouchard's dismissive quip:
"Such complaints irritate gay clergymen and their defenders. 'I think straight priests and seminarians shouldn't be whining,' says the Rev. Charles Bouchard, president of the Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis. 'I just don't think it's a big deal.'"

See a video news report featuring Father Bouchard HERE.

It's time to say, "Goodbye, bad men," and let's start with the president of the Aquinas Institute, Father Charles Bouchard, O.P.

I’m not optimistic about these reviews.

First of all, what kind of power will these reviewers have?

Is it up to them to demand changes in seminary instruction or admission policy?

If they do have power to affect such changes, who will enforce implementation and who will monitor compliance?

Are we to believe that the same bishops who were responsible for transferring homosexual molesters from diocese to diocese and these same bishops who have allowed their seminaries to become cesspools of sexual depravity and heterodoxy have suddenly and miraculously reformed? Are we to believe that these “shepherds” will begin to act like shepherds and not like ravenous wolves all because of this review?

If there is a homosexual subculture within the priesthood and episcopacy -- as was stated by no less than the former president of the USCCB, Wilton Gregory -- why shouldn’t that degenerate subculture itself be investigated and dismantled?

Why isn’t there a review of bishops? Isn’t THAT the real problem?

No, I am not optimistic about these reviews.

It seems that the only way to get bad men out of key positions is for them to die off.

I hope that the inspections will actually do something and change that. (Boot them now!)

Is this 'theological' institute not under the authority of Archbishop Raymond Burke then? It surprises me that he would allow a dissent to be a rector in his diocese.

But we are solders of Christ and messengers of the Good News, why shouldn't we be joyful?

The issue is where one should place their joy, their hope and their faith?

Should Christian joy be focused on Christ and in the world to come or should Christian joy be centered on this world and in the puffy, pampered, pectoral crossing wearing poofters who have betrayed and who continue to betray both Christ and His Church?

I choose the former.

ugh, and i know so many great dominicans (from the eastern province) this guy should be ashamed to be the head of anything with the name Aquinas in it, much less have an OP after his name. St.Vincent Ferrar pray for us.

Presuming that the Holy Spirit has a “trick” up His (in Amchurch, Her) sleeve is exactly that, presumption. I would prefer to see solid leadership, action and a strong chain of command starting in Rome. That’s what the Church had from biblical times and despite the tremendous persecutions against its very survival, it flourished and spread throughout the world. That, clearly, demonstrates Divine intervention and whether or not it is the work of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit or all three Persons, none of us knows.

Two-thirds of American Bishops were involved in hiding and reassigning perverts to prey on other innocents. How many of those bishops have had to answer for their complicity? States Attorneys and plaintiffs’ lawsuits have done more to purge the Church than reviews, promises and the fantasies of wishful thinkers could ever have done. This entire ordeal has been a disgrace, an embarrassment and an enormous blow to the credibility and moral authority of the Catholic Church. For as long as those who permitted the scandal to occur, remain in power, it remains a scandal.

Be joyful so that others, even bishops, will ask of its source.

Putting on a happy face doesn’t change the fact that evil exists and it has and will always exist. Evil within our Church ought to be excised and we have scriptural references that guide us. Ananias and Saphira could have been allowed to remain within the Church, with dialogue, handholding and transfer to another location. But, St. Peter handled their treachery differently and, I believe, appropriately. As an example for all time, the two betrayers were eliminated from the Church (a pity the same method could not be used today) and as a result:

“There came great fear upon the whole church, and upon all that heard these things…And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.”

The rector and one of the professors at my seminary are Dominicans. I hope this guy never crosses their path at a provincial meeting, I suspect he might not survive it...

Bouchard comes across as very effiminate. 99.9999999% chance he's gay. Poor soul.

It's completely ludicrous that both Bouchard and Barbara Dorris (SNAP) insist that all of this revolves around linking homosexuality with pedophilia.

That's wrong. This isn't about pedophilia. This is about grown men engaging in sexual acts with post-pubescent boys. "Barbara says half the victims of abuse by priests are females," the reporter says.

Barbara is wrong and the reporter is poor for not checking her facts. The John Jay Study specifically noted that "unlike the general population, more males than female" were alleged victims. In fact, "four out of five alleged victims being male." That's 80% Barbara.

In the mean times parents, teachers and parish priests need to do everything in thier power to steer prospective seminarians away from Aquinas Institute.
