L.A. Masses

TIDINGS photo by Victor Aleman
Lovers of the Holy Cross Sisters incense the sacred space at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels during dedication liturgy Sept. 2, 2002.

Anything to report -- good or not so good -- about Mass in the L.A. Archdiocese this past weekend?

Once again, for anyone in the Valley, I highly recommend the 9am Mass at the San Fernando Mission.

Mahoney, Baloney.

And I thought that my diocese was bad. Things appear worse in the LA diocese than when I grew up there in the 70s and the 80s. What was JPII thinking when he made him a Cardinal? Is Rog almost 75 at least?

I usually attend Mass at the San Fernando Mission when I am in L.A. When are the indult Tridentine masses? Still all over the diocese on different Sundays?

Yes, in LA, one has to become a gypsy in order to hear the Mass of the ages each Sunday.

The Cardinal allows all sorts of strange religious ceremonies, Catholic and non-Catholic, in his cathedral. Why not the Traditional Mass?

I attended the SCRC conference this weekend and Father Groeschal, a speaker, led us to believe with the new Holy Father we will see a clamp down on Liturgical abuse. He focused on liturgical dance, saying that it is on it's way out. He considered it entertainment and not worship.

Father Groeschel is not welcome at the L.A. Religious Education Congress anymore. I wonder why.

It has to be something in the water or air in your part of the country.

I think it must be the smokey air. Smog. Yeah, it's the smog.

His Eminence turns 75 on February 27, 2011.

That's a LONG time from now.

Excuse me while I cry.
