Latin Mass survey in San Bernardino

Tip to THE DEVOUT LIFE for this one.

On the website of the Diocese of San Bernardino, which incidentally is at the forefront of staffing parishes with "lay directors," is found an astonishing survey showing not so astonishing results.

The survey asks: Should Latin Tridentine Masses be available? The results so far?

1675 say YES.
203 say NO, LITTLE INTEREST

See for yourself HERE.

I hope the poll is accurate but couldn’t it reflect multiple votes by a select group of individuals?

Second, if the poll shows great interest in TLM, would it influence Bishop Rutilio to permit it to be said throughtout his diocese?

The Indian dancers etc. at his Episcopal Ordination might have been corodinated by Hollywood Roger with the new Bishop having little to say.

I attend the indult here in Chicago so I don’t know any of the history concerning Bishop Rutillo or San Bernardino.

Hi,
Since it a latin Mass they probably think it is in spanish.
One thing I know for sure, there is something wrong with the survey. There isn't 1675 Catholics in San Bernardino. They are protestants but don't know it.

Having just returned from Rome, I can tell you that we are going to see a return to Latin even in the Novus Ordo Masses. And it is so wonderful to be able to pray at least parts of the Mass together even in other countries. The Mass at St. Peter's was in LATIN. My thought is that it was the Latin Novus Ordo but that is a step in the right direction because the terrible English translations made that situation all the worse. A beginning is a faithful translation. The Novus Ordo is here to stay I imagine but when (yes, I think the day will come) I am given a choice, I may well go to the Tridentine. I yearn for and need reverence and holiness at the Sacrifice of the Mass.

New notice at the Web site (emphasis added):

This survey is presented to educate website visitors about the Catholic Church. It is also intended to explore accessibility needs - language, transportation, greater availability of ministries, sacraments, etc.

Note that we cannot prevent the same person from voting more than once. Regardless, it serves no policy or statistical purposes whatsoever.
