Continuing my tour of the Latin Mass scene in LA, today I assisted at the Archangel Gabriel Chapel in Glendale. I'd like to find out more about the priest. It's an "independent" chapel, and I don't know his background.
It pays to get the scoop on these priests in the TLM circuit, because some are sedevacantists. (which I am not)

Have you attended any of the indult Masses? Although you have to travel around the Archdiocese, we have a nice little indult community. Our priest, Father Bishop, is a holy and dedicated priest. Here's link for the Mass schedule from the Una Voce Los Angeles website: http://www.unavocela.org/ms.htm
Una Voce has been circulating a petition to get the traditional Mass on an every Sunday basis at one location with Masses on weekends and holy days and all sacraments. Check it out sometime. You won't be sorry. I have also noticed a steady increase in the number of people attending in the indult. There are many young families and people from all ethnic groups.
You have a Fr. Bishop? Our indult community has a Fr. Pope. :P
I am very well acquainted with Father Bishop. I attended several of the Indult Masses
which he celebrated back in the early 1990’s. We have since moved to Atlanta and we are members of an FSSP parish.
He does seem to be a very holy priest. He looks and dresses as priest should. He delivers wonderful and totally orthodox sermons. He is as sharp as a tack. I believe that he is a retreat master. He knows the rubrics of the Old Mass down to a T. His sung Masses are beautiful. So why is he not Cardinal of Los Angeles or a bishop of any where?
In this country, we consider ourselves lucky if we get a wishy washy, ie, tepid mediocre conservative bishop, so that we may not be pummeled with heterodoxy.
How fortunate the parish, and let’s pray, the diocese that would some day see him as its ordinary.
Mahoney must own stock in pier 1 imports!!!
