LA Masses

Cardinal Mahony, flanked by his concelebrating auxiliary bishops, was the "presider" of this "Eucharist" during the February 2005 Religious Education Congress in Anaheim.

Anything exciting to report at your local "Sunday Liturgy?"

No liturgical dancing at my Mass. If there was, I'm sure you all would have heard of it since I intend to streak through the Church when I see leotard dressed liturgical dancers coming prancing down the aisle.

After Mass a tough as nails looking soldier (82nd Airborne) I belive got up to speak to thank the Parish for all the care packages sent to troops in Iraq.

I had always thought this parish had a big "peace and love" faction but apparently they were just the squeaky wheel that had been getting all the oil, since this soldier got one of the longest standing ovations I had ever seen, the guy was almost in tears!

Anyway next week there is a "pulpit exchange" and we are bringing in a lady Luthern Minister. I am sure she will do the Homily, not sure what else, but I am cringing at the thought. I may have to cross the diocesan border next Sunday.

FD, obviously, your pastor doesn't even know the basics of Catholicism. Bro... get thee to a Latin Mass, ASAP!

I would think that for most men, watching the cantor babe in the high heels/tight skirt and the nubile liturgical dancers might just be an occasion of sin.

But it doesn't appear to faze the Cardinal and his concelebrating cohorts.

Such a spectacle at Mass would have been unthinkable just a few years ago. What a springtime we're having in the Church!

A "pulpit exchange"? For what reason? fidei, can you please explain that to me?

I totally respect and support your decision to streak. I don't think you should wait, though. You ought to do it anyway just as a warning, in case they're thinking about it.

Scarlette, I don't know any more details, the bulletein isn't online yet. I know a parishoner there who blogs about stuff like this but he hasn't updated in a while. Anyway I may post on my own blog when I know more. I wonder if I should go to this just for the sake of finding out what the deal is and having something to blog about or driving to my favorite Catholic Church 45 min away.

If you do decide to streak, just make sure there isn't one of those L.A. light-in-loafers deacons assisting at the "liturgy."

You'd think the entertainment capital of the world could do better than girls with streamers. They should be able to have the world's greatest choir.
