"We currently do not have permission"

"Progressive" Catholics disobey, get around or seek loopholes in the Holy See's orders whenever they want to, but they turn around and demand that we obey their own orders 100% -- as with kneeling.

In the days before the okay came for girl altar boys, various parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles used them anyway; and Cardinal Mahony not only did not stop that, he allowed it, saying, "We currently do not have permission [but we are going to continue with this.]" [Translation: We are forbidden to, but..."]

"We currently do not have permission." Imagine if orthodox Catholics tried to get away with that one versus their bishop! They might even be accused of committing mortal sin!

Can someone please give Ken Fisher a lesson on appropriate posting of comments on weblogs? Short and to the point discussed, please, not just cut-and-paste spam emails advertising pre-paid legal services. I'm sure his intentions are noble, but it distracts from any messages he tries to convey.

I am beginning to think that the condition of the faith in the diocese of Orange is one of those places where a good case can be made that believing Catholics have an obligation not to attend any parish of the diocese and to fulfill their Sunday obligation at the SSPX chapel.

I am not generally either fer or agin the SSPX but this seems to be one of those cases where Ecclesia does indeed Suppliet and any defects in communion suffered by the SSPX as a whole are considerably less than those currently being actively promoted by the men in black who have been left in charge by our late pontiff.

At some point it becomes a matter of the salvation of souls to avoid the "official" Church and do whatever must be done.

Yes, Patrick, I agree.

Ken Fisher, get a grip.

Hilary, I have friends who are faithful priests in the diocese of Orange. Granted, they're always fighting their leadership, but at least their parishoners get orthodox practices.

The younger priests are more faithful. Time is on our side.

Hilary:

And there are pockets of orthodoxy, such as St. Michael's Abbey north of Lake Forest and east of Orange.
