Cardinals and "red flamers"
This week's remembrance of the 50th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 should remind all of us that atheistic Communism is the mortal enemy of all mankind and especially the Church.
“See to it, venerable brethren, that the faithful do not allow themselves to be deceived! Communism is intrinsically evil, and no one who would save Christian civilization may collaborate with it in any undertaking whatsoever.” — encyclical Divini Redemptoris (On Atheistic Communism), Pope Pius XI
Catholics should have nothing to do with Communism or its sympathizers and fellow travelers, or with socialism and radical leftism, either.
Considering the millions of Catholics, including cardinals, bishops, priests, sisters, brothers and lay people, whom Communism has imprisoned, enslaved, tortured and killed and continues to oppress and kill right now, Catholics should avoid even the appearance of not condemning Communism, socialism and radical leftism.
So why do Cardinal Mahony and other clerics in our Archdiocese seem to support the work of the late Saul Alinsky's radical leftist Industrial Areas Foundation? Is that prudent?
And is it prudent for the Cardinal to appear from time to time with pro-abortion radical leftist Dolores Huerta, who is not a Communist but who received a "Red Flame Award" in March 2005 "for outstanding progressive leadership," as noted in the official Communist Party USA newspaper, the People's Weekly World ? (Click on this post's title.) Said that newspaper, "The award’s name is based on the nickname of Anne Burlak Timpson, an outstanding labor organizer and leader of the CPUSA."
Much better for the Cardinal and other clerics to appear with anti-Communists from now on.

Simply put, Mahoney is NOT Catholic. What is so hard about recognizing that? Blind obedience has been devastating for the Church.

I don't know about all that. Given that "atheistic communism" i.e. Tito's Partisans backed the United States, while Catholic prelates made chummy with Nazi leaders http://sagereport.blogspot.com/2006/10/who-is-this-priest-molesting.html

In whatever age, the existence of a bishop who goes against Catholic teaching certainly cannot prove the Church wrong.
The Popes made clear the Church's opposition to Nazism. The vile Nazis hated the Church and killed and imprisoned many Catholics.
And Tito and the rest of his vile Reds murdered and imprisoned many Catholic bishops, priests, consecrated religious and laity through their years in power.

The fact remains that Tito's "vile" reds, not the Catholic Church were the one attacking the Nazis and their Catholic Ustashi and Blue Guard allies.
And Pius XII and Stepinac never really publicly condemned despite the fact Ustashi actions were so file that the Nazis and Italians were intervening to save Jews and Serbs. Nor is there any evidence that Pius attempt to assist in bringing any guilty Catholic prelate to justice, not Saric, Gozo, or Rozman.
As for the punishments Tito dealt out at the end of the war, most were deserve, and he treated Stepinac with kid gloves.
My mentor, the late Congressman Clyde Doyle, D. 23rd C.D. and Ranking Member of the House Committee on Un-American Activities would probably disagree vehemently with you on Dolores Wuerta not being a Communist!
