Jury finds pro-life Fr. Norman Weslin not guilty
The news media definitely are not trumpeting it, but there is great pro-life news.
A jury in federal court in Omaha has found Father Norman Weslin, founder of the Lambs of Christ, not guilty of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act.
Father Weslin's alleged "federal crime" was that last April he prayed the Rosary in a security anteroom of the abortion business of the notorious LeRoy Carhart and, while speaking through a mail slot to the waiting room, urged abortion customers inside to let their babies live.
Had he been convicted, Father Weslin could have gotten 18 months in federal prison, three years of probation and a fine of $25,000.
Excellent idea for Cardinal Mahony: Invite Father Norman Weslin to be the keynote speaker at your 2008 Religious Education Congress, so he can inspire our clergy to pro-life activism.

Found your site surfing around and really enjoy it--you've got more than the typically alloted share of zeal and energy.
I'm a Notre Dame student who's considering USC for law school (I know about the Fr. Messenger thing, thank goodness he's gone). Do you know of any parish within reasonable driving distance of campus that's, at the very least, tolerable?
There's three Catholic churches in the immediate area. Very few of the masses at St. Agnes and St. Vincent are in English, so if you don't understand Spanish or Korean very well, then you won't have many opportunities outside of the USC Catholic Center. The new pastor there is more or less in the current "mainstream". The Korean mass at St. Agnes is actually fairly formal, with a choir singing classical hymns (in Korean) and with many of the women congregants wearing veils.

I've been unable to post here for the past few days, so I'm really glad that Anonymous 7:57 p.m. has given you some good guidance.
I'll think about possibilities for parishes, and I hope that in the meantime some of our friends will make suggestions for you.
It's easy, I think, to follow Mass no matter what language it is in, especially as long as missals are available. Being unable to follow the homily, though, is a drawback.
God bless and guide you in your law studies. As we know, the little preborn babies and their moms need competent, devoted attorneys who can speak up in our courts for the right to life. And pro-life activists, pregnancy counseling centers, etc., need competent defense against false charges, perjurers and biased judges. Maybe you're already thinking about all this as you pray about your calling.

The love of money is indeed still the root of all evil, even at Catholic institutions.
On May 10 Pewsitter revealed many members of Notre Dame's Board of Trustees have ties to President Obama and/or his agenda. Pewsitter portrayed ND's president, Fr. John Jenkins, as somewhat helpless against them:
