Pope will beatify 498 martyred by Communists

It would be great to be in St. Peter's Square on Sunday, Oct. 28. On that day Pope Benedict XVI will beatify the largest group ever beatified at one time, 498 Catholics whom the Reds killed for their Faith in Spain in the 1930s.

Click on this post's title for a link that I hope works, to the www.lasalle.org pdf page about the martyrs.

The martyrs include two bishops, 24 diocesan priests, 462 sisters and brothers, one deacon, one subdeacon, one seminarian and seven lay people. What supremely courageous and glorious heroes of Christ the King!

The Reds murdered more than 5,000 priests, sisters, brothers and other Catholics in Spain in the 1930s and desecrated and destroyed 20,000 churches.

Far, far too many liberal Catholics glorify and praise Communists past and present around the world -- the Communists who have imprisoned, enslaved, tortured and murdered our fellow Catholics and who do so today.

If you meet any Catholic who starts spouting praise of Castro, Guevara, the Sandinistas, the Salvadorean Reds, FARC, the Vietnamese Reds, etc., tell them about all the martyrs, and then tell them they should be ashamed of themselves.

Also remind them that Pope Pius XI wrote, "No one can be at the same time a true Catholic and a true Socialist."

Lately I find myself thanking God every day that I'm alive to see this pontificate.

How about the pre-born babies of undocumented immigrants who are martyred every day because people like Q (See his previous post) would just as soon bar them from medical care because they lack papers? Uncomfortable, Q? You should be. It isn't too late to be consistently pro-life...

Dear Anonymous 8:20 a.m.,

You're being inaccurate again, because I've already said I wouldn't "bar from medical care" any moms and babies.

All I said originally was that aid given to illegals is one of the things that has caused problems for U.S. medical care. That is just a plain fact -- but it does not mean I oppose all such care.

Can you truthfully say aid given to illegals is not a problem for U.S. medical care?

Dear Anonymous 9:11 a.m.,

No doubt you're including in "martyred babies" all the babies aborted by the hundreds of thousands in California every year with the indispensable assistance of the pro-abortion politicians with whom our hierarchy and clergy are plotting government medicine.

These are the same babies whom our Democrat-loving and -voting hierarchy, clergy and laity do not try to save from abortion death.

You haven't got a leg to stand on.

I'm sure your total conveniently and hypocritally siphons out the aborted babies of undocumented persons. You can still convert and be consistently pro-life. But maybe you don't want to be? We will pray for you.
