Why was he ordained in the first place?

No doubt you have heard about the sordid stunt that Father Geoffrey Farrow, 50, pulled in Fresno a week ago. It's been on the Net. Click on this post's title to see an L.A. Times article about it.

According to this article, Father Farrow, who was the pastor of the St. Paul Newman Center, which serves students at Cal State Fresno, started packing up that Saturday night. The next morning, he gave a local TV station an interview and said he is "gay."

Then he said Mass, and in his homily he announced his opposition to Prop 8, the defense of marriage initiative. He said, "I know these words of truth will cost me dearly..."

Then he went home, finished his packing and cleared out of town to stay with friends in L.A.

We should note especially that by calling his own sick words "truth," Father Farrow is accusing Jesus' Catholic Church of not having the truth.

Father Farrow graduated from St. John's Seminary in Camarillo.

The Times article says that last Thursday, Bishop John Steinbock of the Diocese of Fresno suspended Father Farrow by letter and warned him that more sanctions could follow.

Look, most likely all this could have been avoided if, away back when, someone had applied closer scrutiny.

Those in authority could either have not admitted him to the seminary or, at some point during his years in the seminary told him he needed to be elsewhere.

Only the most stable, psychologically sound men should be in the seminary and the priesthood. Is that test truly being applied now, around our country? Let's hope and pray so.

POPE PAUL VI CAUTIONED THAT THE
SMOKE OF SATAN HAD ENTERED THE
CHURCH. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? SO
MANY OF OUR BISHOPS CONTINUE TO
LEAD THE FLOCK ASTRAY. IT'S
REFRESHING WHEN YOU HEAR OF ONE WHO
STATES THE TRUTH. LET HIM GO OVER TO THE EPISCOPALS. THEY'RE
ALREAD IN DISARRAY. WE ALL NEED TO PRAY A LOT MORE FOR THE CHURCH AND HER GOOD PRIESTS.

"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths." 2 Timothy 4 3-4

"According to this article, Father Farrow, who was the pastor of the St. Paul Newman Center,..."

Who is St. Paul Newman?
