Bishop agrees with Quintero: Defy the pro-aborts, don't close Catholic hospitals

Bishop Paul Loverde of the Diocese of Arlington, Northern Virginia, recently said that he would defy the federal government rather than close a Catholic hospital or permit it to abort babies under Barack Hussein Obama.

Just as Ole Pedro Quintero suggested in this very blogspot the other day!

LifeSiteNews.com today quoted Bishop Loverde:

"I would say, 'Yeah, I’m not going to close the hospital, you’re going to arrest me, go right ahead. You’ll have to drag me out, go right ahead. I’m not closing this hospital, we will not perform abortions, and you can go take a flying leap.'"

Catholic teaching from the early days onward, as we know, is that an unjust law is no law at all and has no binding force. In the case of aborting babies, we have a duty not only to not comply with such a law but to oppose it.

Whether the hospitals are closed or left open defying the abortion directives, I imagine the government will end up seizing them.
What is absolutely necessary is for bishops to support Catholic doctors and nurses, teaching clearly to help them form their consciences correctly and then offering ever possible support - material and legal - when they are arrested for not murdering babies at Caesar's orders.

Dear Viator Catholicus,

Well said! You are so right about the bishops needing to correctly form the consciences of Catholic medical personnel and then defend them when persecution comes.

Dear Cathy,

Yep, the bishop's tone of defiance is welcome!

Why isn't this blog reporting the news about this Friday's Supreme Court Conference regarding Barack Obama's natural born citizenship "issue" ? Dr. Alan Keyes is suieng the Secretary of State of California and there are now five cases at the Supreme Court of the USA regarding this matter and Barack Obama's birth certificate "problem"

Dear Michael,

Thank you for asking! The answer to your question is that this blog, onelacatholic, sticks with Catholic matters, so the Obama controversy does not quite fit the territory.

But maybe you will see a comment about it here, whatever develops. I'm not optimistic that any court would nullify the election.
