Pope Benedict XVI admonishes Nancy Pelosi about aborting babies

This just in, as they say: The Catholic News Agency reports (click on this post's title) that Pope Benedict XVI today spent his whole 15 minute-session with Nancy Pelosi admonishing her about aborting babies, and that no photos were taken -- she got no photo op.

If you'll recall, Ole Q said just last night that it would be great if the Pope bawled her out like Pope John Paul II did the Sandinista stooge Fr. Ernesto Cardenal in Nicaragua in 1983. Sounds as if I wasn't too far off the mark.

No doubt we'll hear more about this meeting. It's big news! And good news.

Deo gratias, and alleluia!

Q,

Yes, excellent news. Also good news was the fact that the Vatican Press Office was proactive and issued a statement right away. I think they may be getting it.

Thanks for posting the link.

Happily, some traditional news media have been doing fairly straight-forward reporting of the Pelosi-Pope meeting. (Unabashed plug: I mention and link to some in "Pelosi and the Pope, Emotion and Beliefs).

I ran into your blog, while researching that post: a happy discovery.

I would love to hear about the conversation between her and Bishop Niedanhour on Feb 8th at a third party's home. Look's like it is his move, but that's not going to happen most likely. He went on a retreat after talking to her. He needs more than a retreat. He needs to get a backbone so he can deny her communion till she repents, which will not happen according to her press secretary.

Dear Paul,

Yes, and somewhere I read today that they even issued the press release before the Holy Father received her.

Maybe they were trying to head her off at the pass because they knew she would spin the meeting her way.

Dear Brian,

Thanks for your kind words and for the link to your good blogspot, which I'm happy to discover, too!

It's good that some of the reporting by the news media was more or less factual!

Dear Michael II,

The call is up to the local bishop, but I wonder if Cardinal Levada, what with his links to S.F. and to Abp. Niederauer, not to mention to the Holy Father, will have input in any decision or non-decision.
